Altered Arts – Customized Notebook Cover

Presenting to you our latest creative product – Notebook Cover

This was 100% handmade, carefully put together from zero to stylo! *wink*

A useful and personalized accessory, completed with a notebook, which can be replaced with a new one by just sliding in and out of the pocket.

The whole notebook cover was made with acid and lignin free pattern papers. Before the papers were sealed with a sealer for durability, we had two areas stamped (one on the outer and one on the inner cover) and cut out two lil birdies which were then pasted on.

As the total length required by the notebook cover was longer than a standard 12”x12” pattern paper, an extension was added with the help of a sewing machine.

Applying the sealer took up quite abit of the time as we need to apply an even layer of coating, waited for 15-20 mins before brushing on another coat. Every single piece of pattern papers had a total of 3 coatings on each side. And they were left to cure for at least 2 days to avoid the papers from sticking to one another. At the end of the waiting/curing period, the papers now felt like leather.

Next was to hand stitch the pockets – a painful (fingers were poked a few times *ouch*) and slow process.

The last stage was to have a locking system on the cover – for this piece, a ribbon was selected, stamped with some wordings, sewn on and decorated with two beautiful charms.

To complete the whole look, a notebook was slotted in, a pen was clipped on at the notebook binding wire and the pockets came in handy for storing of name cards, post-it note pad, loose papers etc.

Viola! There you’ve it! Your very own notebook cover – the one and only piece in the whole wide world! *grin*

LO – U Are My Best Companion

A Father and Son LO I did recently, showcasing a picture taken with Hubby and Dylan standing by the shore overlooking the coastline. I love this picture of them together – Dylan seems small standing beside his Papa (he was 3 yrs old back then) and there is some much peace just by looking at this…

This was my first attempt to have lace doilies in my LO and I heart it!

I left the misting to the last, after putting everything together on the LO. By placing a piece of tissue paper over the photo, I used two colors of Glimmer Mist from Tattered Angles (Harvest Orange and Caribbean Blue).

Did you noticed the dragonfly near the bottom of the layout? That’s one awesome creation using Fantasy Film. For the How-To-Make-This, click Here.

LO – So Much Love

Alrighty, I bought a sewing machine! Yeah! After pondering on this gadget for months, I finally own one. *grin* But of course, its nothing of those fancy nor high-end model, just a decent machine that could do the basics.

Kind of scary though, it’s been ages since I operated one and the speed of it running is way too fast for me to handle! Ha! Anyway, practice makes perfect. I’m very sure I’ll get the hang of it in no time.

So here’s my take  on putting my sewing machine into action. In this LO, all things are back to simplicity. With a white cardstock, some glitter mist, some pattern papers, some embellishments, some washi tapes, a little rub-ons, distressing and sewing. Viola! This LO was created – You Are Born Into a World of… So Much Love. Another precious moments captured on paper.

Altered Arts – Customized Photo Frame #2

A simple request for this altered photo frame was to have a built-in greeting card. Cool! This called for a challenge!

So, I got busy with the bare wooden photo frame, took out some materials and started playing with them. And here we are – our latest designer piece fresh from the oven!

By now, it should have reached the hands of the birthday boy. And I hope this handmade piece put a big smile on his face when he sees it.

LO – Happy to be 33

It’s the month of July! Yeah! A month of happenings!

To begin with, my hubby just had his 33th birthday last month. And to top it off, I’m invited to be the Guest Designer over at Are You Feeling Goovie! Do hop over to join in the fun and their monthly challenges.

And, ahem… join this month’s challenge! It’s my birthday month!

So, I did up a LO of my man’s birthday. A page I used plenty of distress ink, acrylic paint, stamping and misting. Not quite of my usual style, but I’m simply happy of what I’ve created. You know – the out of the box thingy. Ha!

LO – Precious Love

I did the exact background as of what LO – Sweet Dream has. But, having another style of photo in it – Sepia photo. And wow, the overall effect is awesome!

When you take a closer look, there are butterflies resting on the page.

[Photo: Taken in the car when Devan was four months old. He was staring out of the window and I managed to capture that dreamy look of his. ^ ^]
