In February 2014, I bought for myself my first official planner ā a FiloFax Saffiano personal size in raspberry. Not that I donāt plan out my days and weeks before getting it, but I used to use a table calendar and a notepad to list my to-dos and that was about it. Subsequently, my daily life seems more organised and I documented the daily happenings into my little but handy planner too.
It is always fun and therapeutic to decorate the pages in my planners, yet it could get overwhelming when it comes to selecting the āsuitableā stuff to decorate them. I donāt haul a lot of stationery although secretly I wish to have this and that and many many more others when I saw what other fellow planners shared on their social media account. LOL. Talk about enablers! But having said that, I did feel more time was spent than it should be while I tried to pick the right stickers or matching washi tapes as I went through my stash. After which weād comment that time is not enoughā¦ hmmmā¦ sounds familiar? :pĀ Anyhow, that is when a kit comes in handy and timely. I got to use what is in the kit and then perhaps add a few extras from my own stash. This sure saves quite a significant amount of time!
And so, when I was invited by Christy from The Planner Society to be her July guest and got to play with her planner kit, I gave her a BIG YES right away! Come on, I must be out of my mind if I were to refuse this awesome invitation. Her planner kit is one of a kind with plenty of exclusive items such the pattern papers she designed, stickers, memo pads, die cut tags, journal cards and many more. Psst.. if you are a planner lover who loves to decorate your pages, you have to take a serious look at what she got to offer. And donāt say I didnāt warn you, her subscription is filled up till the month of September (if Iām not wrong). Quickly snag a kit for yourself while you can, because her kit just keeps getting better each month!
Recently I was gifted a FiloFax The Original Monochrome by a sweet sweet friend and it was the prefect timing to shift into this pretty planner with the vibrant colors of the July planner kit. And so expected, I had so much fun using the kit!
Ā Iāll let the photos and process video to do the talking and you see for yourself just how versatile the kit is and the many ways to decorate up the pages. No rules, no right or wrong, but to go with the flow and where your heart takes you to. Have fun and add colors to your life!
PS ā pardon me for the flickering of the lighting of my process video. Mr Sun was playing hide and seek with me during the filming. ><ā Nevertheless, I hope youāll enjoy watching it!
Thank you for joining me here and I hope you enjoyed what I have shared with you. Till then, keep creating!
Much LOVE, Rach
Since Etsy.com was founded 10 years ago, it has served as an excellent platform for creative individuals to buy or sell unique design pieces internationally. Iād constantly visit for inspiration and finding out what’s new and going on in the designer and handmade market. So when the Etsy team approached me with a spot in their special blogger meetup and workshop, I had no reason to not attend!
On 23 May, I arrived at the new Bloesem space and met up with the Etsy team, Anna Denise and Matt, who came all the way from London to share with us their visions, experience and their online platform where sellers and buyers of all things handmade connect. It was a great experience for me to talk to many independent creative business owners as well as renowned bloggers.
With the understanding of the joy of making things with our hands, a candle making workshop was arranged for us and we got to make our very own scented candles. How cool!
Everyone was excited to learn and to discover our favorite scent from a variety of botanical oil. And I formulated my very own scent! Ā It was indeed a priceless experience.
Besides the meetup event, I went on to Etsy to make a few purchases and these were what arrived at my doorstep (for now LOL). Btw, it was such a breeze to make a purchase at Etsy through the simple steps and a few clicks of buttons.
Ā Leather Camera Bag by Oliday
I always wanted a stylish camera bag for the longest time. This bag was well constructed with the finest details. I love how roomy it was when I removed the padded inserts and adjustable padded divider. Now I can bring my DSLR out and travel with ease.
Sequin Camera Strap by Nicoleberlowski
To be very honest, I had the hardest time in deciding which camera strap to get from Nicoleās etsy shop! I even asked for my husbandās opinion but nope I didnāt go with his choice. Ha ha. I got this gold sequin with watercolor fabric. Pretty!
Magnetic Bookmarks by Craftedvan
I am a planner addict and it was only right to grab some adorable bookmarks! These magnetic bookmarks were beautifully handmade, although I do wish to have them thicker and sturdier.
Ā Travelerās Notebook Fabric Covers by TeddiConfetti
These pretties took nearly 5 weeks to reach me but it was worth the long wait! All the little details went to show how much care and love the maker had put in and I absolutely adored these two travelerās notebook covers!
Alright, I need to go off now to revisit Etsy! Too many eye candies and beautifully crafted art pieces to see and perhaps snag a few for myself. š
For years, I decided not to have any New Year Resolutions because I couldn’t seem to keep up with the list and make things work. But for once (THIS YEAR), I want to give it a shot and make it happen no matter what. Furthermore, I chose to declare my resolutions publicly to have that extra push and commitment.
With this short list of 5 New Year Resolutions, I shall embark on a fresh journey with plenty of planning, journaling, doodling, drawing, and painting in my Hobonichi Techo, a few ring planners and my travelerās notebooks!
Hello, how are you? When I was in Australia during our recent family trip there, we were often greeted by this warm and up-beat tone. LOVE this Land Down Under, the people, the blue blue sea, the blue blue sky, the beaches, the food.. ah everything (except for the flies hehe)! And I was so so happy to have prepared and brought along my travelerās notebook with me during this trip! The hubs was glad too and he requested me to do the same for our last Japan trip back in November 2013.. *cold sweat* LOL. Well.. we shall see!
Hiya! It had been a hectic and busy past 2 weeks over here, where the husband was away on a business trip for 9 days (not that long I know but without the extra pair of helping hands at home does make a big difference) and my elder boy was down with a nasty throat infection. Still, we were done with the final school term and now we’re all ready for our family trip after we get our luggage packed!
Hold it, before I go, here is the video I had promised you that I would share — a walk-through on my handcrafted Traveler’s Notebook + a tutorial on altering a traveler’s notebook insert cover + the setup of my Travelerās Notebook for the family trip + a GIVEAWAY! Oh yes, a GIVEAWAY! I have wanted to do one and I thought it would be nice to have one while I’m away. š
It was slightly more than a week ago when I received a text from a friend asking if I would be interested in working on a scrapbook album that is one of the items in the Singapore SG50 Jubilee Baby Gift. Without hesitation, I said yes, even through my time was tight but I just had to agree to help out and be involved in our Nationās big milestone ā Singapore is turning 50 in 2015. Woohoo! And this is part of the many celebration and initiative projects – parents of Singapore Jubilee babies born in 2015 will receive the Jubilee Baby Gift.
I love my country and am very grateful to be born and grew up well on this little island. Now that our boys get to live in an economically stable and considered as one of the safest country in the world, we always remind them to be thankful and to contribute to the society whenever possible. I am proud to be a Singaporean!
I was honored to be invited by Amelia as one of her creative guests on her BLOG. When I saw the interview questions, it totally got me thinking the many Whys and Whats that had got me this far in my crafting journey.
Looking back at the path that I had took and getting to where I am now, Iām very thankful and at the same time amazed by what I had achieved this far. No, of course Iām not a celebrity or whatsoever, but knowing that what I do, love and shared had inspired someone in one way or another ā damn it sure feels awesome and Iām not gonna be shy to admit it. LOL
Many thanks to every single one of you who have crossed my path at some point of my life and those of you who are walking with me side by side, shoulder to shoulder, you all have shaped me to who I am today and I will not ask for anything more. Iām blessed!
Now, head on over HERE to read what I have shared on my creative journey and perhaps getting to know me a little better. š
Hello hello! Today Iām going to share with you a handmade gift which was created for the coming Teachersā Day (which usually falls on the first Friday of every September). Of course, this project idea is suitable for all occasion and serve as a great gift by simply changing the words on the front cover. š
This has been on my To-Do list for the longest time and I finally bite the bullet to make my very first video tutorial! 3 cheers for me! LOL.
First of all, I need to warn you that I sounded funny in the video and that I couldnāt seem to be able to find my tongue at some points during the recording. I had a few hiccups here and there and please pardon me for the many āok… ermā¦ ehā¦ā I used the whole afternoon to doing the recording, searching high and low for extra SD card (youāll know why after you watched the video) and running here and there to charge up batteries etc. Gee, I was like a headless chicken. LOL. Still, despite the duh and the oops, I enjoyed the whole process. Like I said, this is my first video tutorial and I guessed Iām still able to pull it off and hope that the video will be helpful to you.
In general, how many notebooks do one owns and uses them at the same time? For me,Ā I’veĀ six (and still counting)! Each for its own purpose and they all varies in sizes and looks. And out of the six, four of them were handmade by me.
