Since Etsy.com was founded 10 years ago, it has served as an excellent platform for creative individuals to buy or sell unique design pieces internationally. Iād constantly visit for inspiration and finding out what’s new and going on in the designer and handmade market. So when the Etsy team approached me with a spot in their special blogger meetup and workshop, I had no reason to not attend!
On 23 May, I arrived at the new Bloesem space and met up with the Etsy team, Anna Denise and Matt, who came all the way from London to share with us their visions, experience and their online platform where sellers and buyers of all things handmade connect. It was a great experience for me to talk to many independent creative business owners as well as renowned bloggers.
With the understanding of the joy of making things with our hands, a candle making workshop was arranged for us and we got to make our very own scented candles. How cool!
Everyone was excited to learn and to discover our favorite scent from a variety of botanical oil. And I formulated my very own scent! Ā It was indeed a priceless experience.
Besides the meetup event, I went on to Etsy to make a few purchases and these were what arrived at my doorstep (for now LOL). Btw, it was such a breeze to make a purchase at Etsy through the simple steps and a few clicks of buttons.
Ā Leather Camera Bag by Oliday
I always wanted a stylish camera bag for the longest time. This bag was well constructed with the finest details. I love how roomy it was when I removed the padded inserts and adjustable padded divider. Now I can bring my DSLR out and travel with ease.
Sequin Camera Strap by Nicoleberlowski
To be very honest, I had the hardest time in deciding which camera strap to get from Nicoleās etsy shop! I even asked for my husbandās opinion but nope I didnāt go with his choice. Ha ha. I got this gold sequin with watercolor fabric. Pretty!
Magnetic Bookmarks by Craftedvan
I am a planner addict and it was only right to grab some adorable bookmarks! These magnetic bookmarks were beautifully handmade, although I do wish to have them thicker and sturdier.
Ā Travelerās Notebook Fabric Covers by TeddiConfetti
These pretties took nearly 5 weeks to reach me but it was worth the long wait! All the little details went to show how much care and love the maker had put in and I absolutely adored these two travelerās notebook covers!
Alright, I need to go off now to revisit Etsy! Too many eye candies and beautifully crafted art pieces to see and perhaps snag a few for myself. š
It was slightly more than a week ago when I received a text from a friend asking if I would be interested in working on a scrapbook album that is one of the items in the Singapore SG50 Jubilee Baby Gift. Without hesitation, I said yes, even through my time was tight but I just had to agree to help out and be involved in our Nationās big milestone ā Singapore is turning 50 in 2015. Woohoo! And this is part of the many celebration and initiative projects – parents of Singapore Jubilee babies born in 2015 will receive the Jubilee Baby Gift.
I love my country and am very grateful to be born and grew up well on this little island. Now that our boys get to live in an economically stable and considered as one of the safest country in the world, we always remind them to be thankful and to contribute to the society whenever possible. I am proud to be a Singaporean!
Hello hello! Today Iām going to share with you a handmade gift which was created for the coming Teachersā Day (which usually falls on the first Friday of every September). Of course, this project idea is suitable for all occasion and serve as a great gift by simply changing the words on the front cover. š
This has been on my To-Do list for the longest time and I finally bite the bullet to make my very first video tutorial! 3 cheers for me! LOL.
First of all, I need to warn you that I sounded funny in the video and that I couldnāt seem to be able to find my tongue at some points during the recording. I had a few hiccups here and there and please pardon me for the many āok… ermā¦ ehā¦ā I used the whole afternoon to doing the recording, searching high and low for extra SD card (youāll know why after you watched the video) and running here and there to charge up batteries etc. Gee, I was like a headless chicken. LOL. Still, despite the duh and the oops, I enjoyed the whole process. Like I said, this is my first video tutorial and I guessed Iām still able to pull it off and hope that the video will be helpful to you.
